The Vlistyk have few/no facial muscles devoted to showing emotion, in order to express different emotions or signals to eachother they have developed a muscle-flap on their inner-upper lip that changes color to show different feelings, raising their lip every now and then. This individual is perhaps out gathering light materials, only carrying with it a small carved knife (an essential tool they almost always have with them) and a light sack. The light sack is most often a net like bag, carrying within it a few domesticated and bio-luminescent sea urchin-like animals, locally called the Gluque (in their tongue "light-giver"). Although the Vlistyk have excellent daytime vision, like humans they have poor vision in the dark. The first Gluque collected had bio-luminescence, but the light produced was rather dim. After many years of selective breeding however, brighter and brighter lights were achieved. The Gluque have become an essential piece in Vlistyk life and culture, and play the same role their lives as lights and fire has had in a humans (well if fire could crawl around and filter-feed...)
It's amazing! It's like you took two of the strangest sea creatures, cetaceans and cephalopods, and combined them to form this amazing oddity. I love the starfish lip.
Really really awesome i had an idea about theeseguys instead of using fire to make tools or cook food they could use hydrothermal vents to meld things together unless they can breath air like wales and dolphins then they could build tempoary structures on land
I had the same idea!! that may take quite a bit of time for them to discover the use of underwater vents to mold metals, as they are not that advanced yet
